AGC Houston Membership Benefits

AGC Houston is a full service membership organization providing more than 500 member companies with access to advocacy, networking opportunities, safety services, and education and training programs. An AGC Houston membership automatically enrolls your company in Associated General Contractors of America, providing additional valuable benefits and access to resources and training.Our membership includes general contractors, specialty contractors, associates (suppliers) and affiliates (professional services firms). AGC Houston’s membership territory reaches 24 counties and our members represent a $2.3 billion market.

Savings

Discount Programs – Sometimes the savings realized from the discount programs alone can pay your membership dues several times over. We offer discounts on everything from cars to temporary power service , workers' comp insurance purchasing group  and a 401(k) Multiple Employer plan .  Through AGC of America, members receive discounts in four categories: general business solutions, industry specific discounts, travel and finally vehicles and fuel programs. In 2016, AGC Houston launched a Group Medical Insurance program  through Humana. 

Information and Professional Development

Content is a key component to why members join the chapter and why they continue to participate year after year. AGC provides a rich offering of networking events and training programs for both professional and jobsite employees. Events and classes are provided at significant savings to current AGC Houston members and are posted online in our monthly calendar .

Professional Education  – AGC offers a broad-range of education and training programs that provide contractors and their employees with professional development training and activities tailored to their specific needs. From locally-designed courses to national curriculum programs, members receive discounts to course programs such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Lean and Project Management. 

Safety Training  – Promoting the health and safety of the professionals who work at AGC Houston member jobsites is one of our core values. We are proud to lead the nation with the safest construction jobsites based on safety records and zero incidence rates. Thanks to the training and educational programs endorsed by the AGC Houston Safety Committee and a comprehensive partnership with the Region VI OSHA Education Center at The University of Texas at Arlington, we offer safety programs and numerous training courses that support workplace safety. 

Communications  – The AGC Houston website is our main information resource, providing members with up-to-date events and education information. We also keep our members informed about AGC news and other industry-related information through Member’s Edge, our weekly eNewsletter and with Cornerstone, our quarterly publication. Our Resources & Membership Directory is published annually and considered the primary resource tool for all AGC Houston members. Finally, we also publish annual survey data  regarding wages and benefits as well as market forecasts and material/labor cost reports.

Business and Networking Opportunities

Member Events – Through a myriad of events that bring together members and industry partners, AGC Houston helps to broaden your connections to the commercial construction industry. We host:

  • Quarterly membership mixers
  • Membership Orientations
  • Annual AGC/AIA Joint events such as our annual joint golf tournament that raises funds for ACE Mentor Houston Program
  • Construction Leadership Council (CLC)  events include: happy hour mixers,  golf tournament and poker tournament
  • Annual Fair and BBQ Cook-off
  • Annual Chapter Business Meeting (with keynote address and state of the economy)
  • Annual Mid-Year Safety meeting (with keynote address)

Committees  – AGC is an association run by members, not staff.  Our association’s mission is accomplished directly by member support. Serving on a committee is one of the most efficient ways to get involved with AGC leaders and representatives of our industry.  A list of committees can be found here  .

Communications

It helps to be in the know. We constantly update our members on the latest news through Member’s Edge, our chapter newsletter released every other Wednesday. Both The Walk-Through,  our Education and Professional Development newsletter and The Leading Edge, our newsletter devoted to safety are released on Fridays.
